Aramis Animal Mircotattoo System
Mouse Ear Tattoo: A Quick and Easy Alternative to Ear Punches and Tags

The Aramis Laboratory Animal Microtattoo System is a quick, efficient and affordable method of permanently identifying laboratory animals (particularly mice and rats as early as 1 day old).
Designed and tested by laboratory animal technicians, the system utilizes a hypodermic needle at one end of a stainless steel forcep and a small metal cup containing Ketchum Green Tattoo Paste at the other side of the forcep. By squeezing the forcep together, the needle penetrates the toe/foot pad, ear or tail of the animal and injects a deposit of green paste in the animal.

M4S ID Scanner
The M4S ID offers NCAC approved FDX B ISO microchips that can be read by any ISO FDX B scanner worldwide.

The M4S ID microchip and needle come together in a pre-packaged sterile format and simply pushes into the new M4S ID implant gun. The M4S ID 14 guage needle has a much thinner wall compared to others. The microchip is similar to most on the market. Evidence amassed over the last ten years proves conclusively that implant site and technique are critical to the stability of the chip on site, preventing migration and adverse reactions. To ensure the correct implanting procedure is followed, we supply an implant manual. The implant gun is also designed with the concern of migration in mind. It offers the simplest means of implanting the chip quickly, safely, and with the best possible control into the respective implant site for the animal concerned. (An accurate implant technique and implant site is vital to the prevention of chip migration)

RFID Chips and Readers For Electronic-ISO Laboratory Animal Identification
Ketchum carries both 12 and 8 mm glass encapsulated transponders in its portfolio, both complying with the international ISO standard for Radio Frequency Identification transponders (11784).
The transponders are individually packed in a needle with lure connection, in a pouch and eto sterilized. The unit size is a carton with 25 transponders.
The 8 mm transponders have a smaller reading distance than 12 mm transponders. The main reason for this is the following:
both the 12 mm and 8 mm transponders have the same waiver (or micro chip), the coil in the transponder (for receiving and sending the information to the reader with 134.2kHz frequency) of the 12 mm is longer than the 8 mm transponder.
The reading distance of a transponder is determined by
a) the size of the coil in the transponder and
b) the size of the antenna of the reader.
